When To Be Worried After A Concussion And What To Do
Concussions are a common injury, but some signs can hint a more serious condition needing immediate medical attention. If these are missed it could lead to severe or life threatening consequences.

When to Seek Emergency Care Immediately
If you or someone else experiences any of the following symptoms after a suspected concussion, visit an emergency department immediately:
- Worsening INTENSE headache
- Repeated vomiting
- Seizures
- Increasing confusion or drowsiness
- Slurred speech
- Weakness or numbness in arms or legs
- Abnormal eye pupil size
- Unusual or aggressive behavior
- Inability to recognize familiar people or places
These symptoms may indicate a severe brain injury and that’s why it requires an urgent medical evaluation. It’s often recommended to stay awake for 4-6 hours after the injury with someone watching for any of these warning signs. Fortunately, its no longer encouraged to keep people awake overnight because sleep is massively restorative and essential for concussion recovery.
